The program is designed to serve as a foundation for both academic degrees and for students who wish to pursue further research in the field. The program is conducted within the framework of the Institute of Social Sciences. The programs offered in our department encompass the studies conducted and currently being conducted in the field of English Literature and Culture. Admission: The admission requirement for Turkish students is to have exam results that meet the minimum criteria of the programs. Candidates must have valid ALES and YDS or YÖKDİL scores (minimum 55 for ALES, minimum 80 for YDS). The evaluation for student admission is calculated with 50% of the ALES score, 30% of the GPA, and 20% of the YDS score (or an equivalent exam). The list of students to be called for an interview is announced based on this evaluation. For the academic year 2019-2020, the admission requirements were: 1- Holding an undergraduate diploma in English Language and Literature or English Culture and Literature, 2- Obtaining at least 80 points in YDS. Foreign students must have a bachelor's degree from any higher education institution in Turkey, a master's or postgraduate diploma from any institution, which is recognized as equivalent by the Turkish Higher Education Council, to be admitted to a graduate program. Objective: The aim of the program is to graduate students who can produce contemporary ideas in line with the scientific studies conducted in this department. The courses in the program also include an advanced analysis of literary works of different genres from theoretical/social, historical, and cultural perspectives. Therefore, an interdisciplinary approach will be adopted. The aim is to conduct interdisciplinary research and studies on English Language and Literature and culture, and to equip students with research skills in English Language and Literature. In order to contribute to universal knowledge through research, approach, and progress paths, students need to be trained as experts and researchers in sociology, art, and humanities fields. Our program covers the topics shown in the table below: Graduation: The normal duration of the thesis-based master's program is four semesters. The maximum duration of the program is six semesters. In order to graduate, students must complete a total of 10 courses equivalent to 120 ECTS credits. Since the Master's program conducted within our institute is thesis-based; successful completion and defense of the Master's thesis are required.
