At the end of the spring semester, departments decide whether courses will be offered during the summer term and if so, which courses will be offered, and announce these decisions in relevant places. Students who wish to take these courses may be asked to make preliminary applications. Based on the number of applications received, it is determined whether the course will be offered and this decision is announced. Taking courses from other universities first involves examining the list of universities accepted by your department. A protocol prepared by your department indicating the course from the accepted universities that you wish to take and the equivalent course in your own department is required. This document is necessary for the recognition process if you successfully complete the course at another university. If you succeed in the courses you take, you must come to our university to initiate the recognition process.

To have the courses you successfully completed in your previous education recognized, you need to apply for a recognition registration by initiating the equivalency process. As part of the procedure, you should apply to the Office of Student Affairs and register with documents demonstrating your grade status and grading scale. Then, you must enter the courses you wish to be exempted from into the OBIS system and submit them for approval. You need to provide the documents showing course contents and grade status to the members of the equivalency commission specified in the system. After the commission convenes and reaches a decision, you can access the equivalency report via the OBIS system.

Examinations are essential components of course evaluation. The common forms are mid-term (quiz) and end-of-term (final) exams. However, some courses may employ different methods such as assignments, projects, presentations, etc., for evaluation. The evaluation method will be communicated to you at the beginning of the term. Your attendance in class is crucial here. Especially in courses where you have previously failed and there is no attendance requirement, pay attention to how evaluation will be conducted. Remember that it is your responsibility to be aware of the requirements. The date of mid-term exams is determined and announced by the Faculty Executive Board. Although exams are typically scheduled for the 8th or 9th week, this may vary depending on special circumstances and official holidays of the year. During exam week, classes may be suspended, or classes and exams may be conducted simultaneously.

Each faculty member in our department sets aside specific days and times for office hours to provide assistance to students. These hours can be utilized for seeking guidance or addressing any issues, in addition to formal advising sessions. Office hours are indicated on office doors or course syllabi. Feel free to email in case of any urgent inquiries.

Advisors are the individuals who will guide you regarding your academic life. They guide you regarding the courses you take during the course registration period. They are the people you should turn to in case of any problems you may encounter outside of course registration. They facilitate communication between the department chairmanship and students.

Each semester, students select the courses they need to take during the time period specified in the academic calendar via the OBIS system and submit them for approval to their advisors. The OBIS system displays the courses to be taken in blue, the courses successfully completed in green, and the courses failed in red. Students choose the courses they need to take within the relevant year according to certain priorities. Priority is given to retaken courses or courses taken as make-up. Students who register for their own semester courses may, if eligible, choose courses from upper classes. It is important to pay attention to the warnings and guidance of advisors in this regard. During the course registration period, advisors inform students about the elective courses opened within the semester. Among these courses, students choose based on their interests and needs. There may be elective courses from the previous year that are not opened during the course registration week. In this case, the system shows you a table of alternative courses that can be taken instead. It is important to take courses from the relevant package and year instead of the missed elective courses. Do not hesitate to ask your advisor if you are unsure. Remember that during the course registration and add/drop weeks, your advisor may send you messages, indicating that there may be errors in your course registration or changes may be necessary. Regularly check relevant messages and remember that changes may still be needed after your course registrations are approved.

There are compulsory and elective courses offered in terms of course types. Compulsory courses are the ones that students must pass in order to graduate. Elective courses are offered within specific packages. In the education plan, the specified credits from the elective course package for the relevant year and semester are completed. It is necessary to complete the package credit, not which course is taken within the package.

Students are required to attend 70% of the classes. At the end of the semester, students with excessive absences are reported to the Dean's Office and marked as absent in the system. In case of excessive absence, the student forfeits the right to take end-of-year exams. Your attendance status for each course is displayed on the OBIS system as follows: G (required attendance), D (absent - failed to meet attendance requirement), and M (exempt from attendance).

To graduate from our program, 240 credits of courses must be completed. Some of these credits are earned from compulsory courses, while others are earned from elective courses. Our department offers courses on a semester basis during undergraduate education. Each academic year consists of two semesters, typically fall and spring. A semester usually progresses as follows: Course registration period, 14 weeks of course period, and the end-of-year exam period. Dates are specified in the Academic Calendar.
