The determination of Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) was established in accordance with the Bologna Process in 2013, and subsequently, our educational objectives were redefined by taking into account the European Qualifications/Framework (EQF), reports on MLA foreign language teaching, and the Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework (TYYÇ), as well as input from accreditation, strategic planning, and quality management commissions. Additionally, feedback from internal and external stakeholders through surveys and opinions collected between 2019 and 2020, along with the views and evaluations gathered from focus group meetings in May 2019, were considered.
In light of these evaluations, it was determined that not all students were considering a career in teaching. Therefore, there was an expectation and demand for elective courses outside the field of teaching to equip students with knowledge and skills that would enable them to find employment in different sectors. Furthermore, there was a request for a more student-centered and participatory approach to enhance oral communication skills. In this context, interdisciplinary approaches and the acquisition of effective language use skills are among the program's educational objectives.
Both the feedback from students, graduates, and external stakeholders and the changing demands of our world necessitate ongoing efforts to update the curriculum. These efforts are led by the relevant commissions responsible for accreditation and curriculum updates. Requests for system improvement were raised during the 2019 Faculty of Arts Academic General Assembly meeting and conveyed to the Rectorate unit and the Student Affairs Directorate by the Faculty Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission. Work on this issue is being carried out by the relevant units of Erciyes University.
In line with the planning for the future and considering the requests and demands from our students and graduates who seek employment opportunities in various sectors, as well as input from external stakeholders, the Commission responsible for curriculum and course catalog updates (Bachelor's Course Program Preparation, Course Catalog, Curriculum, and Course Information Package Update Commission) has reviewed the course curricula and content of the faculties of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Communication, and Tourism, and identified potential courses that our students can take. Suggestions for elective courses from internal and external stakeholders are documented in student/graduate-focused group meeting minutes and satisfaction and expectation surveys from external stakeholders.
